How important is Surface Preparation before concrete footing.

Non-Conformance in work due to Proper compaction not done for Footing PCC.

Footing and ground structure are designed for ground with an assumed or
known ground bearing pressure, If there is a loose spot at the bottom of the excavation, It must be removed. Levels can be made up with crushed stone, sand or sometimes
low strength concrete.

We generally use concrete as blinding to seal and protect the surface of bearing stratum, this also
provides a firm base for erection, shuttering or block wall true to line and level.

And as our site is near to sea it’s not worth to ignore proper compaction so we will redo it again
after proper preparation.

Dome form work

Dome form-work for lobby room, the construction of the centering for domes is more complicated than that of most other types of vaults. Formwork could be two way either horizontal or Radial we have a smaller dome and radial formwork will be easier for us in the picture we are making the mainframe with 21mm wooden ply, which will support two layers of ply sheet which are flexible enough to do the maths.

Dome form-work in place, reinforcement work in progress, Once reinforcement work completed a low slump concrete will be used for the casting.

Whome Shoud I Approch For Quality At Workplace.

As a QC Engineer, I have to be proactive all the time, I remember one of my senior told me to once be lazy sometime no problem but stay 100% active at-least two days in a week you will do good. Its kind of works in construction. Anyways.

During site visits, I observed lots of activity which can lead to the customer complain and rework, and I have to notify all of them to construction depending open the issue this could be the construction worker working at the site to the project whoever I think at first can take action for my comments.

For the below two issues for the first one I will inform to site engineer as he is the responsible person to prepare the inspection request for the second one I informed to the charge-hand at site to immediately  talk with the site engineer regarding the quality issue and the same issue I will take to weekly meeting so it will be conveyed to all site team.

1. No inspection request has been raised for the casting of the lintel.
2. Striking of form work has been started near swimming pool area which was casted yesterday night circa 11.30 pm.
